Is this Life?

And it was in the cool of the night.
The sun had roasted the earth.
Many wished for the rain
But it was too warm for even a drizzle.
Even it was cumbersome to talk on a phone,
It was just chatting on different platforms.
Each claimed to love as brothers and sisters
Beautiful reading thoughts expressed
Nothing but stone wrapped in Candy wrapping
Finally, sleep crawled into the eyes
Souls given to the Creator to keep.
“I spoke to him last”
“he was my best friend”
“was he sick? How come we did not know?”
Too late.
No tears. No tears.
The crack of dawn brings light to the eyes.
It is the light of life.
What life?
Which life?
